CHS and Radish Seed Growers' Association Announce Partnership

Posted on 07/19/2016

TANGENT, Ore., July 13, 2016 – CHS is pleased to announce a partnership with the Radish Seed Growers’ Association effective immediately. Under the partnership, the Radish Seed Growers’ Association is granting CHS exclusive marketing rights to the 2014 CCS-779 radish seed crop grown by its members. The partnership follows the dissolution of Cover Crop Solutions, LLC, and the subsequent licensing of the radish variety CCS-779 by CHS.

“We are excited to work with the Radish Seed Growers’ Association and its growers,” said Kevin Rogers, CHS general manager. “When we licensed CCS-779, we knew a large inventory of radish seed existed. It is CHS’ desire to do everything in our power to find a market for this seed and develop a future program that will offer stability in the market place.”

“We are pleased that we have come to an agreement with CHS,” said Mark Gehring, president of the Radish Seed Growers’ Association. “CHS’ financial stability, market penetration, and strong reputation with growers, gave us confidence in this partnership. CHS’ commitment to the cover crop program not only will help our growers with their short-term need of selling seed, but it will also help them in the long term with opportunities for future production contracts with CHS.”

CHS operates in numerous channels within the cover crop, forage and turf seed industry. Through its seed facilities in Tangent, Ore., Madras, Ore., and Fairfield, Wash., CHS provides seed production, seed procurement and custom packaging for clients around the world. Through CHS Seed Resources, the company offers a complete “small seed” portfolio to its hundreds of agronomy locations throughout the United States and is expanding those services to the thousands of CHS member cooperatives.
